He teaches him geography, Western science, and technology. During this journey, Heinrich even builds a small movie theater for the Dalai Lama. Influenced by the Dalai Lama’s pure heart and the peaceful lifestyle of the Tibetans, Heinrich—who was once hot-tempered and selfish—undergoes a significant transformation. Climax: Chinese Invasion and the Fall of Tibet
The story takes a crucial turn in 1950. After the communist government is formed in China, it decides to annex Tibet and sends the People’s Liberation Army (the Chinese army) into the region. Since the Tibetan army is very small, an inevitable war scenario arises. However, Heinrich’s friend, who is also a Tibetan military commander, surrenders to the Chinese army without putting up a fight, betraying his country.
